Areas of use equipment

The areas classified as subject to explosion hazard are not all the same: in fact, they are divided on the basis of the level of danger, laid down on the basis of the concentration of the flammable substance and the type of flammable substance involved (gas or dust). The flameproof conversions will, therefore, also differ based on the areas where the equipment to be converted will be used.

Classification

There are various regulations to which you can refer for flameproof conversions. The best known and most important are:

  • The ATEX standard, both at European and non-European level: comprehensive, it covers both electrical and mechanical hazards;
  • The IECEX standard, worldwide: it only covers electrical hazards;
  • The UL flameproof standard for the United States;
  • The AUSTRALIAN STANDARD in combination with ATEX and IECEX standards, certified for Australia and New Zealand

GR. I M1

Category m1  includes all product designed to operate in compliance with the manufacturer parameters and ensure a very high level of protection. in particular, all m1 category products must keep in function in hazardous atmsphere, even in case of fault.

GR. I M2

Category m2  includes all product designed to operate in compliance with the manufacturer parameters and ensure a high level of protection. in particular, all m2 products must be shutted down in presence of an hazardous atmosphere.

GR. II - ZONE 0

Area in wich is detected, always, often or for long periods an hazardous atmposphere due to mixture of air and gases, vapours, fogs or clouds. in zone 0 area, can work only category 1 machines (1g/1d).

Category 1  includes all product designed to operate in compliance with the manufacturer parameters and ensure a very high level of protection for zone 0/20 usage.

All products for this category are characterized by protection systems that in case of failuire (even extraordinay) of one of them or two indipendent faults , guarantee an adequate protection level.

IT’S NOT POSSIBLE FLAMEPROOF CONVERT MACHINES FOR THIS AREA.

GR. II - ZONE 1

Area in wich is likely to occur, during normal operations, an hazardous atmposphere due to mixture of air and gases, vapours, fogs or clouds.

Category 2 includes all product designed to operate in compliance with the manufacturer parameters and ensure a high level of protection for zone 1/21 usage.

All products for this category are characterized by protection systems that guarantee an adequate protection level in case of recurrent failure or faults that must be considered.

GR. II - ZONE 2

Area in wich is not likely to occur or only for short period an hazardous atmposphere due to mixture of air and gases, vapours, fogs or clouds.

Category 3 includes all product designed to operate in compliance with the manufacturer parameters and ensure a high level of protection for zone 2/22 usage.

All products for this category are characterized by protection systems that guarantee an adequate protection level in case of normal conditions.

GR. II - ZONE 20

Area in wich is detected, always, often or for long periods an hazardous atmposphere due to mixture of air and gases, vapours, fogs or clouds. in zone 0 area, can work only category 1 machines (1g/1d).
